Turning a pandemic graduation into a playful, memorable celebration.
The Brief
The International School of Amsterdam needed a visual identity for their graduation ceremony that could celebrate the graduating class during a time of uncertainty and limited physical gatherings. The identity had to feel joyful, inclusive, and adaptable across digital and physical formats.
The Concept
The project is built around celebration, movement, and local belonging. Inspired by recognisable Dutch symbols such as bicycles, windmills, and tulips, I developed a playful visual language that feels optimistic and communal, reflecting both the spirit of graduation and the international nature of the school. Bold shapes and vibrant colors convey excitement and forward motion while remaining flexible across different formats.
The Process
The project began with exploring symbols and visuals that felt celebratory and locally inspired. I sketched modular shapes and experimented with color, typography, and composition to find a playful yet clear style. Early prototypes were tested across print and digital formats to ensure readability, versatility, and a cohesive tone. These explorations led to the final designs used in video, printed materials, and merchandise.

Merchandise
Graduation merchandise, including shirts and stationery, was designed as keepsakes for students. Graphics were adapted to each item while retaining a cohesive, celebratory look.
Graduation Video Intro
The animated intro sets an energetic, celebratory tone for the ceremony. Motion was used to bring the shapes to life and guide the audience’s attention through a joyful narrative.
Print Materials
Posters, invitations, and signage were designed for clarity and visibility while keeping a bold, playful style. Layouts were adapted for different formats without losing consistency or impact.
The Impact
Across all formats, the design aimed to create a joyful, memorable experience for students, families, and staff alike. The new visuals have been embraced by the community and contributed to a cohesive, uplifting graduation celebration.
